Find Your Summer Fun

On a Budget

By Macaroni Kid June 24, 2016
Ever since I was a kid I looked forward to Summer break and much hasn’t changed as an adult. With my kids in school, mornings are hectic and a bit stressful. So looking forward to the much needed break for all of us.
I try to find things to do during the Summer on a budget because the fun could add up quickly.
Here is my top 10 list of things we like to do during the Summer on a budget:
1-Visit the Beach
Pack some snacks, lather on the sunblock and drink plenty of water. It’s a perfect way to entertain the kids while getting some fresh salt air.
2-Parks with a Splash Pad
Visit the Palm Beach Park website for a list of parks in your area.

3-Nature Trail. Best to go first thing in the morning or late afternoon - don’t forget water & a camera. We visit Greencay & Wakodahatchee Wetlands often.

4-FREE or Dollar Movies places like Cinebowl & Cinemark and others offer a few times a week 10am a free or dollar childrens movie. While it’s not a new release, it’s still a fun place to go for a couple hours to cool off.
There most probably will be camps, but some theaters have it nicely spaced out so you are separate from the camps. You can also call the theatre to find out about camp visits.
5-FREE bowling for the kids. Sign the kids up at www.Kidsbowlfree.com and they get receive 2 FREE GAMES Of Bowling Every Day All Summer Long. Just have to pay for shoe rentals, if you go often enough may be worth finding shoes to buy.
You can add The Family Pass, it  allows for 2 GAMES of bowling per day, per adult family member for up to 4 family members all summer long for $29.95.
6-Libraries offer FREE storytimes, clubs, special events throughout the year for children of all ages including the Summer time!
7-Keeping the Kids Reading During the Summer
There are many programs out there that help encourage your child to keep reading during the Summer where they can earn books, and even money.
Barnes & Noble,Local Libraries, Check out Chuck e Cheese’s website for a chart for a few rewards. At TD Bank the kids can earn up to $10.
8-Community Pool Open to the public, with a very reasonable entry fee - and most offer swim lessons.
Find more places in the community here: www.pbcgov.com/parks/aquatics
9-Playdates Call your friends, your kids friends, ask to meet for a playdate. Keep it low-key all they want to do is play and have fun.
10-We all need a break every once in awhile.
Check out places that you trust they may be offering a Parent’s Night Out or Morning Out to give you a few hours at an affordable price to get things done, or even go on a date.
