Hello Neighbor: Hagen Ranch Road Library Children's Department Staff

April 12, 2019

Now is a good time to drop on by as libraries across the country join together to celebrate National Library Week, April 7-13th

Hagen Ranch Road Branch, located at 14350 Hagen Ranch Road in Delray Beach, has been proudly serving the community for 10 years.

In fact, they just celebrated their 10 Year Anniversary this summer!

The Children’s and Teen Services staff include:

Mary Burns, Librarian II,

Afra Burton, Librarian I,

Sara Schandelson, Library Associate II and

Claudia Powell, Library Associate II.

Ms. Mary enjoys leading the team and ordering new materials for the Branch such a VOX books which just came in.  They are a print book and audiobook combined which you have to come and check out!  She is really just a kid masquerading as a grownup who enjoys getting down on the floor and playing with the little ones that come to her Story Time on Wednesdays- Baby Lapsit (ages 4-12 months) at 9:30 a.m. and Week Folks (ages 13-23 months) at 10:30 a.m.  She also loves nature and birding with a special program planned later this month on the subject.

Ms. Afra can be found hanging out in the teen department looking for meet-cute themed YA books, keeping the teens informed of upcoming activities, and creating eye-catching book displays. She has also started a new Story Time STEM class on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 a.m. for ages 3-6.

Ms. Sara is like a crazy scientist always thinking of new programs for the Branch. She enjoys presenting Music and Movement on Mondays at 11:00 a.m. as well as Little Picassos on Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m.  You can also catch her presenting STEM classes for older children once a month.

Ms. Claudia enjoys sharing the joy of reading with children.  She can be found sharing songs, dances and fun stories during Preschool Story Time on Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m. and Time for Two’s on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m.  She also loves creating special family time events like Fort Night (camping in the library) in the summertime.

There is always something special happening in the library and this week is no exception with a bunch of great programs in time for National Library Week including:

Spring Story Times – a series of morning programs for little ones. Check out the schedule online at http://events.pbclibrary.org/kids-and-teens/kids/classes

There is always an open invitation to everyone to come by and visit.

What can you find in the library?
