By Marty Rogge January 15, 2021

There is definitely something to be said about new opportunities in a global pandemic, and the Palm Beach County School District has given students just that for the upcoming 2021-22 school year.  The Palm Beach County School Choice Application is currently open which includes several NEW middle school additions.

Parents of elementary school age children: your requests and pleas to the PBC School District for more middle schools have been heard!

Several elementary schools are currently in the middle of middle school additions to make their schools Kindergarten through 8th grade.  These middle school additions will alleviate overcrowding and give students more niche education options.  The emerging focus this year is the new existence of K-8 schools that have opened or will open in Fall of 2021.

New middle schools mean our county's sales tax dollars are at work!  It means new opportunity for students who would like to progress into the niche programs such as ARTS (dance, digital graphic design, television production, band, piano, orchestral strings, music, theatre, visual arts,) STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics), business leadership, and Cambridge Academy.

First, Delray Beach's own Plumosa School of the Arts received the green light for the additional middle school structure, and construction will conclude before Fall 2021. Plumosa will welcome their first 6th grade class for Fall classes, and progress each year with an additional grade.

Plumosa's esteemed Arts program will give students the opportunity to engage in several Arts programs including · dance, digital graphic design, television production, band piano, orchestral strings, music–vocal, theatre, and visual arts.

Boca Raton received two middle school opportunities at Verde Elementary, which became a K-8th school this fall 2020.  Verde K-8th has the Cambridge Academy niche program currently available to Choice applicants.    Also, Addison Mizner will complete construction on their brand new campus buildings for the upcoming Fall 2021 school year. Addison Mizner's original  1966 school was demolished to begin an all new state of the art K-8 campus to accommodate Boca Raton's ever growing student population.   Addison Mizner's niche program is Business Leadership currently available to Choice applicants.

Finally, Lake Worth received a new middle school construction to Hidden Oaks this past school year, welcoming their first set of 8th grade graduates this past May 2020.  Hidden Oaks boasts a STEAM program focusing on Science, Technology, Arts, and Mathematics.

The Palm Beach County School District's Choice Application period will quickly close at this end of January, on the 29th at midnight.

As a Realtor, my goal is to teach the families I represent about ALL education options, such the Choice program option for their students, and guide them to make the best education decision for their student.

Introducing the Choice education option has opened so doors to so many families who thought their ONLY option was to buy a home in an "A rated" school zone.  The Choice program provides this opportunity for buyers to purchase the home that's perfect for their family AND attend the school that's perfect for their student.  A win-win for all.
